Blair Castle, Blair Atholl

Grade A Listed, Blair Castle is the home of the Dukes and Earls of Atholl, and the headquarters of Europe’s only remaining private army. Set amidst the beautiful scenery of the Perthshire Highlands, the distinctive, crisp white building with its romantic turrets and crenellations was one of the first private homes in Scotland to be opened to the Public.

Originally decorated using KEIM Granital in around 1990, KEIM’s David Cochran recalls “It was one of the first and largest Scottish projects completed using KEIM Mineral Paints which I was involved in”.

The longevity of KEIM Mineral Paints is essential for such a large and iconic building and the natural matt appearance and light reflectivity keep the building looking beautiful.  Despite having been decorated for 30 years the redecoration cycle of the castle had to be brought forward a few years ago due to some render repairs and fire damage.  There are some areas which were decorated as part of the on-going cycle throughout 2013.  Redecorated again using KEIM Granital in pure white the building is looking pristine and will continue to do so for many years.
