Cheyne Court is an apartment building located in Chelsea, London. When we visited the central courtyard area it was apparent that the rendered walls were previously painted with a gloss paint. We recommended sanding down the surface to create a key for the KEIM to form a chemical bond. KEIM Restauro Grund was used for the deep repairs before re-rendering with KEIM Universal Render up to the cornices. KEIM Universal Render is designed to flex and allow some movement so issues of cracks within the render will be illuminated.

During closer inspection it was evident that there were salts at the base of the entrance area. We advised to brush the salts efflorescence from the surface with a stiff brush and remove the salt laden materials from the building before any decoration. Following this the surfaces were rendered using KEIM Universal Render from the base up to the natural breakline.

A two-coat application of KEIM Soldalit-ME was applied over all rendered surfaces to provide an extremely long life and durable finish. This particular paint system is recommended in London due to it removing harmful air pollutants such as nitrogen oxides, ammonia and VOCs.
