Located in Boncath, a village and community in north Pembrokeshire, Wales, sits Blaenffos Bapist Chapel. Originally built in 1785, the Grade II listed chapel has undergone several renovation works.
The client, Ian Ward, contacted KEIM Mineral Paints after being recommended by Celtic Sustainables. Bryan Roe, Senior Sales Executive, visited the project and produced a comprehensive specification.
During Bryan’s inspection he noted moss and algae growth to the façade, along with hairline cracks and pitting in sections to the lime render.
Various sample shades were chosen as colour match option to blend with the existing paint. Careful project management was needed as the client required the project to be completed prior to the Eisteddfod Festival, an annual event, which was being held at the chapel.
KEIM Soldalit Fixativ was applied onto the exposed lime render and newly lime repaired areas. A coat of KEIM Soldalit Grob was then applied over all surfaces, including previously painted, to disguise repaired areas and create a uniform finish. KEIM Soldalit, a sol-silicate based mineral paint, was used as a final coat in colours 9510 and 9585.
