Customs House, Belfast
The Grade B listed mid-1800s building standing opposite the Lagan Weir and John Kindness’ “The Big Fish” is the work of architect Sir Charles Lanyon and builders D & J Fulton. It is considered as the finest neoclassical building in Belfast, designed in Italianate style.
KEIM Granital was applied to the building’s cornices during restoration, which saw the existing stonework left unpainted in its former glory.
Whilst Customs House’s interior is closed to the public, the square has once again become a popular leisure space within the city.
