The Caledonian, Inverness
The Caledonian in Inverness is a 19th Century, Grade A Listed Public House. The sandstone surfaces include tympanum with carved allegorical figures – all which were previously painted with approximately 8-10 layers of paint – some areas had been stripped and in other areas existing paint coatings remained. For the deep repairs to the sandstone, we recommended using KEIM Restauro Grund and for the finishing layer over the repairs, we advised using KEIM Restauro Top, which was dress back in a manner to suit the surrounding stonework. To give an opaque matt finish, we specified KEIM Soldalit in the same colour as the KEIM Restauro Top.
