103 – 105 St Peter’s Street, in the heart of St Albans has recently been converted and transformed from dilapidated offices into three beautifully restored Georgian Townhouses, and 10 new build mews houses that are located at the rear of the building.
The exterior of the building was looking tired with lots of paint peeling off the facades, due to a previous conventional, masonry paint being coated over the render, which led to moisture ingress. We recommended the removal of the existing coatings, particularly where there was evidence of delaminating and blistering paint to allow full breathability.
KEIM Spachtel, a mineral filler, was used to help feather in areas where the paint was removed. The KEIM Royalan system, in colour 9477, was applied to create a durable, breathable finish. The building was designed by the same architect who designed St Albans Town Hall, which was also decorated in KEIM Royalan.
